site registration bug

Not sure if it belongs here but when I went to register, it told me I needed some special characters in my password, including the possible use of, &.

Cool, one of my common passwords uses the ampersand so I used it and it told me I can't use it. I ended up with two warnings, the original telling me I could use an ampersand and a new one telling me I couldn't.

So I ended up using an asterisk in place of the ampersand which worked but then the page seemed to be transitioning for a long time and finally went to the white screen of death. Obviously, registration was successful though.

Thanks we'll fix the message wrongfully suggestion to use &.

For the white screen, you need to check your server logs to know why it blanked. It's possible your PHP timedout. You did not provide the name of your webhost :/

I don't see how the registration process on b2evolution.net would give an error on my hosting.(note the url in the 2nd screenshot) Maybe you should check your logs? ;)

OK found it, it's a weird PHP timeout which I cannot explain but I can reproduce it by trying to register myself.

I will drill down on this. Thanks for reporting it.

We fixed this btw. It was a plugin loading settings for all users instead of just for the current one.

When using Softaculous one-click install, they don't care what you input for a password so if you use "&" in it, it doesn't complain but you can't log in to the site after install. btdt Not sure what can be done about that, if anything. It would be up to Softaculous to add something to their form.
