Skins Fallback

I am trying to understand this better and hope that someone can shed some light on my questions:

1) Why is B2 shipped with the skins_fallback_v5 and skins_fallback_v6 folders?
2) is the skins_fallback_v5 folder eventually going to be dropped from a future release?

The skins_fallback_v5 is needed for all the skins developed with the v5 skin API. They use different layouts for comments, user profiles, etc. If we made the old skins use the new fallback layouts, it would break the old skins.

This will not be dropped for a very long time.

It is likely we'll add skins_fallback_v7, skins_fallback_v8 etc as we add more features / new layouts to the skin API when they are not backwards compatible.

Thanks for explaining.

I was asking because I noticed that the Downoalds make use of _downloads.disp.php file in _v5
and that there were non in _v6. Now I understand.
