Thanks for the advice! I can repost one comment from email but the other is lost, so I'm hoping there's something more I can do to retrieve it.

Do you have a backup of your database prior to the booboo? If so then the missing comments are in that backup. Probably best to open the backup in a file editor and find the content of the comment you're looking for, then adding it in manually via phpmyadmin.
I did the same thing a little while ago, only I took out 26 comments 8|

Thank you for the suggestion, EdB.
I don't think I have a backup with those comments intact. The comments were just made about 8 hours before my slip-up. Unless there's some kind of auto backup going on, I don't have backups from the period between the comments being posted and my mistake.
Thanks for the advice.
do you get emails containing the information?
Was it an unregistered user's comment?
if so, this is what I would do:
Repost the comment (assuming you have that info), using that info.
Log in as admin, and edit the comment author so that it reflects the information
registered user?
Create a dummy acct, and do the same thing. Edit the comment as needed once your admin.
There might be minor user details that dont match, but youre the only one that will know. You really only care about the 'content" of the comment anyway.
