My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

I just upgraded to 1.9.3 from .9.2.

I remember in my experimentation a while back with a previous version of this software in which uploaded files were placed into sub-directories based on date (I think it was monthly).

Did that actually exist before? Does it exist in 1.9.3?

And, I changed the setting to upload pictures to "custom" so the files go into just the media directory, not a subdirectory.

My settings are:
URL - www.whatsnextnetwok.com/technology/
Directory - media/

The files are uploaded into the media directory, but the code inserted into my post says the file is in the main technology directory rather than technology/media/...

Also, the old version renamed an uploaded file if the same name existed already. 1.9.3 doesn't do that. Is that a setting I need to change?
