My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

I would like to add the last X posts from my instalation of B2E onto the homepage of my site as a module. I have a custom built PHP site, im a bit of a dabbler in php but not someone who can program from scratch. I can edit code rather well though. is there a preexisting module or function of B2E that would allow me to do this?
