My b2evolution Version: 2.1.x
My users and I have been elated with the move to Version 2, but the only thing I lost was a sidebar list of users, sorted by the number of posts they have made.
I had originally added the code from this forum post into our custom skin: http://forums.b2evolution.net/viewtopic.php?t=8778
Under 2.x, I think this would be best served as a widget, but my coding days have long since past and I haven't even figured out where to start.
Is this something that's doable under 2.x?

Yes, you can use the free HTML widget for that. At least, I think it accepts PHP. Basically you can start with copy/past the existing code from the other skin in this widget.
Just give it a try. If you're stuck, there's always this forum.
