[2.x] What is a "page list?"

My b2evolution Version: 2.x

I just upgraded from the 1.9 series to 2.4.2, so needless to say, I'm experiencing a bit of culture shock right now. Things seem to have changed a bit, and I'm still trying to find my way around.

I've been searching around the forum, website and the backoffice, but I can't seem to find any information about what a page list widget does, with the exception that it is a "list of all pages; click goes to page."

What is the concept of a page in this sense? I had thought that it would be the same as the public blog list, but clearly, there's another widget for that, "Public blog list."

When you post you can make your post type be "page", which means it is seen as different from a post type "post" and gets displayed in the page list - not the post list. Useful for stuff like "about me" pages is the idea.
