Sorry I am newbie but i have a few dump questions after spending hours customizing my blog

- how to create links (to other websites ) on sidebar?
- how to configure to make users see articles in a certain category, instead of all the articles after they log in? Say, i have categories, fun, sport and life. I just want users to see "life" as default when they log in. They can see content s in other categories by clicking on sidebar index.

any advice will be greatly appreciated.
