My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Ok...so I've actually accomplished skinning the sites I need to but now have another question. The ladies blogging here...are...well very verbose to put it mildly. They write these incredibly long blogs that people have to scroll through to see what else might be of interest. But being more than a little slow here...and knowing I'll look like a complete idiot for asking...

How do you use Read More -> The write page looks like it should be a simple click on !M (which enters the text Read More) but it never shows up as an active link in the live page. I know it has to do with the permalinks...but if there's a one click solution to adding read more to a post and having just the excerpt appear in the blog list I'm totally missing it.

I can think of ways to do it by adding html to the post but the girls will never be able to cope with that.

Waht have I missed?
