My b2evolution Version: 2.x

I'm trying to get archving to work with one category. Having not been able to get it work on an annual basis, I decided to move the older ones on to a stub file page. However, $poststart is being ignored in the stub file. I'm not seeing mention of it on 2.x pages -- is there an equivalent? I'd like to have posts=x on one page, and then the rest appear on another (ideally using the archive plug, grouped by year, but if that doesn't work, then having them all listed, except for the first 25.

Does any of this make sense?
