I realise this is an old post but could someone tell me how to use this countdown plugin?

Basically I need to show a countdown to a predefined date, at the very top of the page, on the right.

In this page you'll find a pretty basic example about how to use the countdown plugin suggested by @sam2kb: https://gist.github.com/mgsolipa/e3b7b52a1f6a22342dc5. Nowadays, there are plenty of them there in the web, so you can use whichever you want.

You can write a new post in your site using that code, but remember that you need to modify the blogging permissions before (http://b2evolution.net/man/blogging-permissions) in order to be able to include this kind of code in your posts. Please, be careful because this could imply a security issue.
