My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Hi have a clean new install of 3.3.3 from Fantastico installer, everything appears to be working fine except;
I have an error creeping into some responses to blogs from site visitors, I wonder if you can help
It would appear that a logged in user of the site doesn't get this error at all and they get a date stamp with edit and delete icon.
It seems to keep the reply, but dispaly this line occasionally when a visitor posts.

Hi Guys
It seems that the erro is only on post that we think are spam originated, almost all other posts have come out ok. We deleted them.
However, this begs the question is this the sort of behaviour you would expect to see is a thread is spammed with a reponse?
And although looking through the forums there is a reference to a spamming topic in http://forums.b2evolution.net/viewtopic.php?t=7528
this thread. but it indicated its version 1.6 not 3.3.3
Please Advise
1) Is the previous behaviour something we should expect from a spam
2) Is there a method of stopping or at least making spam difficult
