It would really help to have a checkbox "exclude from loop" like "featured post" to to keep some posts from showcasing them for various reasons.

This way you wouldn't have to unpublish an outdated post.You would just check exclude from post loop, and it would still stay published but no one will be able to see it, unless they came from a search engine, or know the direct link.
