That's a normal message when you're updating b2evo. Just navigate to b2evo installer and select "UPDATE"

I can't get it updated. Same thing every time. Any other ideas other than just using the installer which I have repeatedly tried?

Can you be bore descriptive?
Did your very first update failed, did you upload all new files to the server, do you have a database backup?

Can you PM me a link to the blog?

Yes, my very first update failed. I uploades all new files to the server. I backed up databases.

My very first upload was via Filezilla. Deleted and re-ftp'ed with Core FTP. Same error: Database schema is not up to date!

You have schema version «10000», but we would need «9960».

That message means you either need to (re)upload a more recent version of b2evolution OR you have to restore and older backup of the database (your choice). But you cannot run an old version of b2evolution with a new version of your database.
