Yeah, I made a plugin long time ago to save custom blog, post and user fields. I'm not sure if it's public or not... I'll post the latest version to the forum.

I mean there may be types of custom fields you would want permanently, like, i dont know, "Rating" or "Ingredients" for a recipe post, whatever..

OTOH, you might need custom fields that should expire, which i intend to use for share counts of the posts (likes, +1's, tweets and a combined score maybe).

In that case my plugin provides permanent fields only. It's easy to save field update/create time and then check whether it's expired or not.
