adding a ping service - programming needed?

Hi

i want to add a german ping service to the list of sites which are automatically pinged.

the search reveals a lot of self-written functions along with a statement that made me wonder.

According to one post around here those ping services have different interfaces/api/parameters or whatsoever, making it necessary to programm an individual ping function.

I thought this pinging was part of the MT specs and therefor standardized?

Do I *really* have to program in order to add a ping service?

In case i have to (i don't want to - it's not that i cant... actually i'm quite good at PHP, but one of the core features of a good programmer is laziness :D ):

which files do i have to edit in order to add a service?

Is there a ping class included in the api?

Once they told me to copy-paste-change the ping that is written for weblogs.com.

Since I don't want to mess with the core code, I never did it.

it's located in b2evocore/_functions_pings.php

but if the service you want to ping is blogg.de, it's ok if just ping them once manually (there's a form someone one there site) and ping only blo.gs and weblogs.com automatically. blogg.de fetchs new pings of german blogs from there.

For Blogg.de it also works to generate a ping-URL on their Site and to copy this into the trackback field every time you want to ping blogg.de.
