Sidebar Misc. list changes with pc/browser

Suddenly, using Slimbrowser on my XP, the Misc. list shows only 'login', making it difficult for me because this has never appeared before, and I have no cookie set and can't remember my username and password. In IE and Firefox on that PC the Misc. list is the same as always - 'Admin', 'Profile (Admin)' and 'Logout (Admin)'.

The Misc list on my Win98 pc also shows up ok in the Slimbrowser on that machine.

I'm mainly writing because this seems so strange, not that I need a fix, but it would be interesting to hear what others think.

Cookies are not usually shared between browsers, so the reason you are seeing different things in different browsers is because you have a cookie set in one browser and not the other. You have to log in using each individual browser to get the cookie set in that browser. Also, if you clear your cookies in a particular browser, you will have to log in again using that browser.

Thanks for responding. I understand that cookies aren't set between browsers. What I'm wondering is why a totally different set of links shows up in the different browsers.

Because you have to be logged in for most of the links to display. If you've not got the cookie set, you're not logged in.
