Thanks for replying— and yes the previous database is b2e-based. But when I installed b2e on the current host, it created an additional database, don't know why, and since then, I've decided to delete the eariler stuff.
Being a complete greenhorn in the way Unix works and in php and mysql as a whole, I would like to enquire if by backing up the sql data does that include the blog entries, or are the entries in a separate folder by themselves?

the 'posts' are in your database. and only there
and your prior database is made with b2e ?
than you should create a database and inport your data, and than run the install procedure in b2e with the link 'update from a previous installed version'
