Need some help, please, on possibly using .htaccess

Okay, I'm not geeky enough to figure out how to do this, but this could be useful.

Wednesday, last week, a spammer began sucking up my bandwidth by making requests for my blog to show all of 2005. So this had made me think that it would be a good idea to turn prevent the blog from showing all of a year's posts in one GET request.

Is it possible for me to return a forbidden response through code with the .htaccess file?

Is there a way of configuring b2evo to not serve up requests for a whole year of posts? I mean, it can be a real bandwidth hog when it happens.

Thank you. I'll certainly go about modifying the skin to do that, although I would still be interested if anyone can come up with the code that could be used in .htaccess to stop this.

It would also be good, I think, if b2evo were eventually made easily configurable to turn off monthly/yearly archives.
