HTML code in Posts?

Is there a way to insert HTML in your posts?

For example, I want to insert a flash video player into posts but I have to use HTML code to insert the player into my posts (As far as I know).

When I enter in HTML in my posts it gives me an error. Is there anyway to post HTML?

If you search the forums for flash or embed or object you'll find several posts with the answer.
