I installed the 1.6 alpha and have it installed and working. I also have the subscriptions working. E-mail is sent in text/plain format. How can I get the e-mail notifications to send in HTML format which would then show images that are posted to the blog?

It's not possible yet, but would not be that difficult.
A user would have to choose is preferred format (with plain text as default).
It's low priority for me, but I'll add it to the todo list.
