I completed the installation of version 1.8.2 and after the installer completed filling tables with sample data, I clicked on login (ready to use my assigned user name and password) and got a blank page. The file admin.php exists on the site but it isn't coming up.
But I passed all tests up to this point and was sooo happy!!!

I get the old "HTTP 500 - Internal server error"

I am answering my own request. I was using a server that has a script that installs the blog automatically. I had tried to do it the long way by downloading the program and uploading through ftp, then installing. As I said, using that method, the program installed but I couldn't get into the admin.php
Now everything is fine at least to this point.
