Hello,
after upgrading to 6.5, I have a number of issues:

When I try to post, it tells me the post is not public yet, and b2e refuses to post it.
My Sharethis plugin is no longer working.
I either get an error message about the PHP code, I just removed the "&" before "pre_dump( $params );", but now sharethis is nowhere to be found underneath my posts like it used to.

It looks to me like the new upgrade is a step backwards.

Any advice, please?

Thanks.

@vlaanderen many of us think that version 6 has been an important step forward for b2evolution.

Can you be more specific about the posting issue? What is the exact message that b2evolution shows you (a screenshot could be useful) ? What do you mean when you said "b2evo refuses to post it" ? Do you get an error message? As more detailed you are, more useful and precise would be our answers.

Sharethis is a third-party plugin. In an ideal scenario, the authors should be responsible to patch their plugins in order to solve backwards compatibility issues. We can take a look at the plugin and try to fix it in order to keep it, at least, operative. Is this the plugin that you're mentioning: http://plugins.b2evolution.net/sharethis_plugin

Hello,
This is screenshot 1:

There used to be a button there which said "Publish" if I remember correctly.
Then the 2nd screenshot after clicking "Save":
The circled text on the top says my post is not public, and the text near the bottom says that the post is a draft.
The 3rd screenshot shows what happens after I click "Front Office" on the top.

About ShareThis: yes, this is indeed the plugin I have.
However, in "Widgets" it is nowhere to be found, and when I click "Plugins" in the Back office, it does not give me a list of my installed plugins.

Hope this cam be sorted.
Thank you.

@vlaanderen: that's right, the Publish! button has been removed, but it will be included again in the next release attending the users requests. However, in the meantime, all you need to do is select the status in which you want to save the post (see screenshot above). If it's Public the post will be published when you click on the Save button.

The color of the buttons set might help you to easily identify the current status of the post.

OK, thank you.

Now, what about the PHP error regarding Sharethis?
It appears when the post preview appears, but not in the final post.
However, ShareThis does not seem to be working.

Or could the plugin be deprecated, and if yes, are there any alternatives?
Thank you for your help so far.

And another thing I have noticed now when I try to add ShareThis again:

@vlaanderen: we're actively working on new social sharing plugins. I'll be in touch and let you know when they're available. Thanks.

Thank you for this explanation.
Getting a bit desperate being unable to share my posts.

Looking forward to the new feature.

Any further news yet?

10 Aug 22, 2015 22:22

@vlaanderen yes, a new Sharethis plugin has been published here: http://plugins.b2evolution.net/sharethis-plugin, please replace the old one. We will keep this version updated and also a couple of more features will be added soon.

In addition, please note that settings are now collection-based, so you can use different Sharethis accounts on each collection.

Any comment, suggestion, etc, will be appreciated.

Regards!

OK.
Thank you for this.
Took me a little while to configure it properly, but it's "Up, up and away" again.
Thank you.
