Install with demo data is working so there must be a HowTo get this functioning on a clean install.

Noting that I replied to the other post you have a link to. I did confirm the problem as you saw it. Now you have raised the issue again I have tried the following.

The new minisite I created, with no content had the same problem as I confirned. The new collection was on an existing blog which did not give permissions for people to self register.

So I went to the collection where I controlled the manula registrations > Users > Settings > Registration and login and Checked [Users can register themselves freely] and then I did not get the error. Note this is probably as I have an option to register on another collection. If you only have the minisite on the blog you won'r have that option.

Have you tried a new blog with a different type of collection?
Have you got it working if you use demo content?

I just downloaded the latest dev. version 7.2 and this bug is solved there.
Tried it with clean, empty, Blog install.

This is solved now.
