'comments' gone wonki!

Ive been running 4.xx for a long time. Decided to upgrade to 5.0.4.
All seemed well .... then I noticed a problem with comments.

1. Comments dont seem to be validated in the same way as before? I had to go into 'edit' and make public.
2. Even once I had made it public no actual comment was visible on the post, just a reference to a commentor and his details.
3. Having a comment seems to corrupt the skin display for that meassage. When I delete reference to the comment the correct skin display reappears.
4. Ive tried various skins and the same issue occurs, suggesting this is a core not a skin problem?
6. Ive tried various post/comment settings to no avail.
7. Ive re-installed the software.

Any ideas?

Comment forms are now loaded through an AJAX request to deter spam bots.

In your case there seems to be an error while doing that. Try disabling AJAX forms in the blog advanced settings and see what happens.

thanks for your response. I tried turning off Ajax, it did not seem to change the situation .... I still couldnt see the comments even though I could see them in the data base.

However I tried many things and have found what makes it work.

Ajax is still off ( not sure if this has some effect ) but what I did was set 'Apply rendering to posts:' & 'Apply rendering to comments:' in Plugins/Texturize - both to 'automatic' .... Now every thing seems to work!

Not sure what caused the problem? It was the same on different OS's, differnt machines, different Installs ? Anyway all is good now!

I think your modified the part that displays comments in your skin and for some reason it doesn't work with v5.

You should keep Ajax on for better antispam.
