Lets have the scenario that someone has a multiple domain setup and runs several blogs from one installation and then needs to split one blog as a standalone / new installation from this structure (maybe because someone else wants take over this one blog). How would one be able to get the relevant data extracted? One could clone the database, set up cloned blogs somewhere, deleted the blogs from the clone structure that stay in the original setup and then hand over the left over ... but this seems a bit a stoneage procedure.
Isn't there a feature in the backend that would allow to export all relevant data for this one blog from the database? Or would it be possible to add something for this purpose in future releases?

Yes we may add something at some point in the future but it will probably be a full export. Partial export is very complicated. You would have to specify exactly what goes in or not: private messages, which users, which files, etc. This would take more time than a duplicate / delete scenario as you described.
For now the way we do it ourselves is duplicate and delete as you described.
