The profile photo is displayed as an image in every blog post. That's the one I'm talking about.
Well, I upgraded to the latest version a couple weeks ago via Softaculous. The previous version, well, was from 2017. At the time of the upgrade my problem was that some links didn't work on an old skin. It was when I changed skins that I noticed the photo wasn't showing. Images within posts were fine.
I reinstalled by backing up the old site and database, uninstalling, and installing a fresh copy. I then renamed the site folder, database, and database user password. Copied the media folder and my blog.php. Profile still doesn't show, even when uploading a new photo.

I've been checking system settings to make sure everything else is okay. Most all looks good but when I tried to fix the database stuff (charsets) the tool stopped at evo_items with this error
Incorrect datetime value: '0000-00-00 00:00:00' for column tylerh11_b2e736
.evo_items__item
.post_datedeadline
at row 15(Errno=1292)
I also notice that items related errors are shown for some skins. I changed all those to the 'post_datemodified'.
Now I am getting the error
Invalid default value for 'post_datestart'(Errno=1067) on
ALTER TABLE evo_posts
MODIFY post_content text COLLATE utf8_general_ci NULL COMMENT "", MODIFY post_title text COLLATE utf8_general_ci NOT NULL COMMENT "", MODIFY post_renderers text COLLATE utf8_general_ci NOT NULL COMMENT ""
Note: I have discovered that I can disable the profile picture and random photo is Widget settings if I can't find another fix.

As indicated in https://forums.b2evolution.net/b2evo-version-and-database-version
check you database version, if it hasn't been updated you can find which version of b2evo you were using, you can reinstall that.
You are not clear about exactly what you did. You say re-installed you mean a new install ??
Why change the database name and password? Ideally you could have just tried an automatic update or just ftp'd the new version and run install. It seems you changed maybe a few too may things.
So did the /install try to update the database, if so could you show a screen shot of the actual error etc.?
What version php ~ mysql are you using, all these are essential bits of info to get any sensible help without being asked numerous questions.
Did you read this

I initially did an update so the version id is probably the same. I'll check tomorrow.
I used Softaculous, a cPanel tool that installs and updates software. Then I made copies of the database and install folder, and uninstalled. Finally I installed b2e new (again using Softaculous) and linked it back to the existing database, partly by modifying... I think it was _basic_config.php.
The update was on a four year old install, so something may have been missed by the update. The Profile photo and random photo widgets seem to be the only functional problems.

- That doesn't make sense, upgrade from what to what, did you see my list of engine versions to database versions, you didn't respond to that? Check your host logs to see what you did.
- How did you uninstall via Softaculous or manual delete? You are not clear on this.
I installed b2e new (again using Softaculous) and linked it back to the existing database, partly by modifying... I think it was _basic_config.php.
- Again that doesn't make a lot of sense. A straight update would usually work.
- An install via Soft... would create a database with a new version, so you cannot just replace or link to an older version by just changing the /conf/_basic_config.php no wonder you have problems.
- The database engine may be different and so again another source of likely problems, and again you have failed to indicate which versions of database you are using and if you have changed that.
- Likewise for php version you provide no info. For example b2evo 6.10.9 worked on php 5.4.41 but after that you will need to upgrade php see https://rogerlovejoy.net/blog/b2evo/version-6-10-6-php
6 Your lack of info is frustrating as I have to repeatedly point out your unwillingness to provide requested info and moreso as in my last post I referred you to the forum request for exactly that. https://forums.b2evolution.net/?disp=edit&cat=244
How serious are you about getting help?
The above info above php versions etc. relates to b2evo version 2.5 years ago and you are saying it was older than that and you still provide no info on what you really have done.
Are you capable of installing manually.
- Delete the current version ~ manually. Check you still have the database accessible
- Download something like version 6.10.2 and install manually
- Run the install procedure which will ask you to connect to the existing database.
If that works check the MySql/Maria database version
Check the php version ~ if it's at least 5.6 you can upgrade to 6.10.5
if you can use php 7 then upgrade to the latest b2evo 7.2.3
Compare your b2evo version the that of the database as in the link I provided and the method described in my first response.
Finally what is tylerhosting.com and Tyler Computer club ~~~ can't they sort this out ??
As I said earlier, your lack of info provokes just more questions.

app version is 7.2.3-stable
database version is 16170
These are the same on the update and the reinstalled version.
From the source of a copy of the previous version, it was 6.6.6 and 11486
- How did you uninstall via Softaculous or manual delete? You are not clear on this.
Softaculous. I deleted the folder and database, but Softaculous wouldn't let me install a new one without using their Uninstall.
I installed b2e new (again using Softaculous) and linked it back to the existing database, partly by modifying... I think it was _basic_config.php.
- Again that doesn't make a lot of sense. A straight update would usually work.
That's what I tried the first time. That's when I first had problems with the skin and the profile photo. That's why I reinstalled.
- An install via Soft... would create a database with a new version, so you cannot just replace or link to an older version by just changing the /conf/_basic_config.php no wonder you have problems.
The first update should have updated the database to the new versoin and application.php indicates that it did. I delayed addressing the problems and Softaculous deleted the backup after 7 days so I couldn't go back to the old database. I forget that it would do that. I didn't want to go back to previous database backups because I would lose so many newer posts.
- The database engine may be different and so again another source of likely problems, and again you have failed to indicate which versions of database you are using and if you have changed that.
Noted above

Php version is 7.0.33
MySQL version is 5.5.5

Sorry for the frustration, I was reading and responding to much of your email when I was not at my computer to verify the information.

If you are talking about unzipping the download into the blog folder, yes. Why would I install an older version?
Finally what is tylerhosting.com and Tyler Computer club ~~~ can't they sort this out ??
Many years I ago I was offering hosting services, but the tax and other requirements were too much trouble, so it's just my website.

New insight.
I manually installed a fresh copy of b2evolution and installed with my current database. While there were a few things that would need configuring, still the profile photo didn't work.
Then I installed a fresh copy of b2evolution with a new database and the installer demo information at http://www.tylerhosting.com/b2evolution/index.php. Still the profile photo does not work. All I see is the loading spinner where photo should be.

Thanks for the update
I've just tried ~ installed the 'user profile Picture' widget and I have no problem with my skin so will install the skin you have and try again, exactly what skin and version are you using?
Is it one of these?

It was the default, Bootstrap Main 7.2.3.
The problem seems to be with other photos as well. Navigating the images folder I notice many of the photos will also not display thumbnails, but will show as a popup. The images that do display within my blog posts are probably not affected because they are inserted directly with "Insert IMG/link into post". I use that instead of image id so I can modify them easily with html and CSS.

That's not what your site's code or footer states

On my normal site, yes.
On the fresh install at www.tylerhosting.com/b2evolution, with the same issue, the default Bootstrap.

I doubt that. If there was a database change the update would upgrade the database, and in this case the database from 7.2.1 through to 7.2.3 hasn't changed. You can confirm this by checking the version number in [/conf/applicatio.php] in each of the those versions.
See also https://forums.b2evolution.net/b2evo-version-and-database-version.
For a list I have made, see https://rogerlovejoy.net/blog/b2evo/database-versions
I don't use the profile photo as you do but will try it out and see what I come up with.
When you say you 'reinstalled' do you mean a second time for 7.2.3 or was that the first time and not an automatic upgrade?
