Would be nice if there would be a page on b2evolution.net where showcases with live and active sites are listed.
When walking through the showcases on https://forums.b2evolution.net/miscellaneous/site-showcase/ - then one may drift away from the idea of using b2e.

If it helps, I just posted a new site for 2020 that has a fairly modern design. The only other thing I might do is add a custom font or two for headings.
The WordPress version did have a little more eye candy but it's not much of a trade-off for not having to deal with 15 wp plugins written by 15 different developers, updates every few days and the heavy/premium theme that made the site a little slow.
