Most users ever online was 69 on Thu Aug 23, 2007 12:25

It struck me by surprise because it wasn't a busy day at all with not many posts. Last record set was 58 a few month ago. That was a busy day. Totally different.

12:25 is my local timezone, 18:25 is server time.

Could be from a fair few huge topics being replied to, so all the users that have made a post get a notification and login to check what the reply is about. I notice that with the gallery plugin topic, whenever a reply is made, the topic views jump about 200.

So around the 23rd these topics were updated:
