I got this funny feeling that's not really your URL - something about not having ".co.uk" in it gives it away ;)
So this now sounds like a cookie problem. Like, your cookie from when you had no www in the baseurl is arguing with the real world as it is today. Have you tried logging in from a different computer or with a different browser on the same computer?
Depending on your browser, there is probably a way to examine your cookies and selectively delete the ones for your own domain name.
