Hi John,
in the actual 'skins' folder via FTP I see about 10 skins in various folders. Under the "Skin" tab on the Dashboard I only get the error above, no skins are listed.
The issue seems to be an "install" one where the database table "evo_skins_skin" hasn't been created.
I suggest you try a new install and see if it fixes it.
Is this a known 4.2.0-rc2 problem or just dumb luck? Is there a more stable version to install?
4.2.0-rc2 is a terrific build, though not final.
Your issue isn't reported as a bug or a problem, that I know of.
I would stick with it and try a new install.
Did you upgrade from a previous version or is this a new install?
Are the skins you're trying to install skins that were made for 2.*?
2.4.0-RC2 is the stablest version in the 2.* generation, but skins for 1.* simply won't work. If you upload them it will appear as if you can install them, but if they actually do install they won't work and (probably) will throw errors.
No this is not a known problem, other than using skins made for 2.*.
This is a new install, so whatever skins that it comes with is all I have at this point.
Try running the install script again however do check that you have all files uploaded
I would say download the package again, delete everything from your server, and start over with all new files. Just in case something got fried somewhere along the line.
So, doing a full delete of all databases and reinstalling the files worked. Whew! Thanks for your help guys.

1. What version of b2 are you using? I'm guessing 2.4!
2. What skins appear in your blogs/skins folder?
