However, most people simply make an extra blog for that. then you could have the same skin and less hustle.

The description for2.1 is in my blog article. For version 2.4 you find the code in ../blogs/inc/widgets/model/_widget.class.php from line 671 onward.

I may be tempted to rewrite one of my widgets, but unfortunately for you I have some other things that come first.
