[1.10.x] Make posts does not seem to work

My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

Hello,
I'm running 2.4.2.
The media manager does not seem to work properly. Basically, if I upload a picture and click on the "make post" button, it creates a post with a pic title but a small white rectangle instead of a picture.
The same picture can be inserted from within a new post, though, going through the "files" button routine.
At the beginning, it seemed that media manager worked fine with the "make post" function, but then I uploaded a large file for fun (to see if it got resized) and everything went awire with that 'make post" function.
Any idea whether that "make post" feature is supposed to work reliably ?

You might have to chmod your /media/ and /media/blogs/ and/or /media/users/ folders. b2evolution, when using that feature, is going to try to create a bunch of little folders to hold a skin-specific size of the image you uploaded.

Do you get a thumbnail of your image in the file manager, or a black square?

Additional information :
I got another trial site with 2.4.1. Multiblog-multi-users too. The make post function works properly.
Is that any help ?

In the 2.4.2 operation I don't have even a thumbnail (from what I understand, a black square would be considered lucky !)
My permissions are 777. Spent the afternoon on it ! (but still a happy girl)
