My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Right so, it appears that I am now forced to upgrade my beloved b2
to PALMS from - wait for it, SPARKLE. And now I realise why I had decided not to do that in the first place.

I use b2evolution as a simple Content Management System. I have incorporated it into lots of sites. Each site looks quite different, not like a blog at all. It seemed that there is nothing that SPARKLE couldn't be coaxed to do. I love it with a passion.

But now, I’m a novice again and I can’t find anything about how to now do what I do in PALMS

Here's a start

What file do I go to if I need to:

1. list categories horizontally

2. list categories in ID (entered) order rather than alphabetically ?

I must say, the back office is rather lovely, isn’t it?

OK so there's another question. Where do I enter my version number?
