Thank you afwas,
Unfortunately it is there as well as xls, pdf, txt unfortunately none of them
work. I have completely removed the database and software and started
from scratch each time. I am assuming that the package does work. But
there is something missing. Can't see what it could be.
I could add it again to see if that works.

Can you check if your host has some limitation on filetypes you can upload?

They upload fine. if you select them it always says
the same thing. they are not images. and of course
they are not. Could I be missing a button for none
images?
Or maybe I just don't know how to post a none image or word document.
Don't assume I have a handle on the software. I just saw it the other day.

Well, works fine in my testlab: a pdf file is shown as link and is downloadable.

(Never mind the Dutch translation. Note the selected pdf file and the button that generates the link)

short version : b2evo files link thing only "expects" images
you can either direct link ( file.doc ), or there might be a groovy button for "attach files" ... or not .... maybe it's in the next version .... the direct link is probably more what you want ;)

Hm, looking once again for things that don't exist.
I'll make a note in Feature Request.

/me points to "edit yer post" button
Yer such a post count whore :|

I'm not selfish on rep though. That's diminished to 0.4 at this point.

Thank you everybody, not sure I can follow the last
few posts. Murphy's law is in full operation. I did
noting but copy a few direct links, which didn't
work. And try a few of the options under type after
link url. And all of a sudden. When I selected the
insert IMG/link into post it did put the link in the
post.
But still have a problem the pdf does not display in
the post. I get no errors. That could simply be an
issue with permissions. This has been a strange
morning.
Come to think of it there was one thing I did different. I double clicked the
pdf file in the list. It did come up and displayed properly.

No, checked permissions. and put an image in just
to see what would happen and the image was fine
but the pdf would not come up to view in the post.
even with the link in the post. When I clicked on
the pdf in the files folder, this time it came up as
garbage.

I got it.
Why don't you just log on and see what I am talking about.
This is the URL and I set up an admin password.
URL:
http://site401.mysite4now.com/tachs/blog/blog1.php
Logon: test
password: test1111

The pdf loads fine and there is no error viewing it (Ubuntu Intrepid, Document viewer).

I don't see a pdf in the post. I only see a URL. So are you saying that the
display of a URL is all it will do. That is fine but I need to be able to
produce the pdf in the post just the way a picture does.
This is a test site, I don't care what goes in it. If what you say is correct
please just upload a pdf or use the one that is there and show me. There
is a possibility that there is something wrong with my PC, operating
system, firewall, browser. Etc.
I didn't see any errors either, that went away for some reason that I don't
know why. I could have been doing something wrong, I don't know this
software yet. My assumption is that this package does work.
When you select file to chose the pdf to post. The file management window
comes up. Under name select wixard.pdf. Just click on it. The first time it
comes up fine in a viewer. Close it and open it a second time. You will see
it turns to garbage.

A pdf will show as a link. You'd need a plugin to display the contents of a pdf. That looks possible to me. However such a plugin doesn't exist.

Thank you, you have been great and the help appreciated.
If I find a way I will share it with you.
Hi fkhouck,
Welcome to the forums.
Go to Dashboard -> Global settings -> File types and see if this line is in the list:
http://www.blog.hemminga.net/B2evoforum/Filetype_doc.png
If it's not there, please report back and I'll tell you how to add it.
Good luck
