Assuming Joomla has the ability to parse rss feeds then you could just hook into your blogs rss, similar for your forums.

Thank you. Yes, that was what I was thnking of doing as well. But since the apps have the same backend I thought it might be more efficient if I use the a_stub.php file and modified the code there to be added to the home web page. I am not sure if that will work well.

I have not been able to find th a_stub.php file yet based upon the install that someone did on liquidweb for us.
