My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

I'm having a problem. My archives show all my posts to date. How do I make it show posts by Month grouping them. Then by year perhaps. Is there something I am missing here or a setting that can alter them by date. I'm thinking once it becomes too long, I don't want 100's post links on 1 page.

I also can't figure out how to get my sidebar to appear on my home page??
