My b2evolution Version: 1.10.x

My first blog has a URL of index.php?blog=2 If I create additional blogs within the same instance of b2evolution, they have sequential blogs, viz. index.php?blog=3, etc. These other URLs always get "not found" messages. What's up? How do I run multiple blogs?

Thanks!

Hi dsa42. Welcome to the forums :)

I don't recall anything from way back in the 1.* days that would stop a new blog from showing up with params as the URL. Got a link where we can see this happening?

Thanks, Ed. The blogs # 5, 6, 7, and 8 at

http://anguloconsulting.com/mkm/b2e/

all have broken links.

"Way back in 1.*" :( I installed this with a "1 click" install from my ISP (StartLogic). It was easy, but I didn't know that it would install archaic software.

What happens is some hosts set up "one click install" stuff then don't take the time to keep their end updated, or the thing they installed doesn't take the time to update. Meanwhile all the apps people are using are getting upgraded, so you people end up with brand new versions of treasured antiques.

1.10.3 was perfectly useful and in fact is NOT labeled obsolete at http://b2evolution.net/downloads/index.php but I would suggest jumping straight to 2.4.7 before you get too comfortable with 1.anything. I also suggest avoiding 3.everything like the plague unless you're into bug-riddled adventures.

Okay back to the problem. All your other blogs have an extra word in the path. That seems to be the problem but I'm not sure which tab and whatnot you made that happen on. See http://anguloconsulting.com/mkm/b2e/index.php?blog=8 actually works yah?

* wow what a blast from the past - public-side skin switching :)

Thanks, Ed. I'll try. I'm not sure if my ISP lets me get to the command line to do anything. They're using cpanel - which generally is great but slow. It keeps me out of things, though. Even if I get to the command line, I'm not sure I'll have privs to do anything. But, it's a good suggestion, and I'll try.

Yeah. I added that when I made the new blog. I thought they would have to have different paths to be kept different. I don't know why the option is in b2e if it doesn't work??

Wow! Yes, it does! I thought I tried them all, and none of them worked. I guess it was too late at night.

I actually made that one thinking that perhaps the extra path was the problem. When it didn't work (what I thought, anyway), I figured that either I had broken the entire thing or that multiple blogs just didn't work at all.

You solved my problem! I can get additional blogs going now! Thanks! :)

All you need is ftp access ( will be same credentials as your cpanel login ;) )

To use the "extra path" bits that you added to url you need to create stub files or play with htacces ... better to upgrade first and then break lots of new settings :D
