Yes, all three attempts I made are there.
What next?
Thanks Topanga

What are your settings in the Write Screen under the side panel called "Visibility / Sharing"... maybe the default setting is "Draft" instaed of "Published"....
then again, maybe not !!!
5 b4k4 Oct 15, 2009 13:22
The default is draft, but drafts show up in the back office. These three posts don't. And anyway I changed it to publish on one of them.
thanks

I suppose you are logged in as an admin (the admin can see everything).
And that post that you 'published'.. is that one visible (in front or back ?)
7 b4k4 Oct 16, 2009 01:32
No, all three attempts appear only in the database. I am logged in as admin and I have searched.
Is this a mystery?

then that is exactly that : a mistery. In the 6 years I'm working with b2evo, I've never expiriended that.
Do you want me to take a closer look (because then I need admin previleges to your blog) (and that will be for tomorrow)

What do you mean by "you searched" in the back office? Does that mean you hit all the different subtabs for each and every blog under the "Posts / Comments" tab, or did you use the search function?
Are they post-type posts or something else?
In the database what ID owns the posts that vanish, and what is the main_cat_ID?
Why have we not seen a link to your installation?

ordinary posts

1 and 15 (4 and 15 when I tried a different user)
Why have we not seen a link to your installation?
What do you mean? You want the url of the blog?
11 edb Oct 16, 2009 10:17
Cool. I don't know what value search has. Don't actually use it is why.
So what blog number is category 15 in? When I manually tell mybrowser to go to http://www.hiroshima-is.ac.jp/blogs/index.php/cat33/ it adds a ?blog=21 to the URL, but when I try the same with http://www.hiroshima-is.ac.jp/blogs/index.php/cat15/ it says 'nothing to display' but doesn't add anything to the URL. If I fake cat99 it tells me 'blog not found', so it knows cat15 exists ... but has no posts. Which we know to be false because there are posts that you wrote and it stored in the database.
What happens if instead of searching via the search box you instead pick the blog that cat 15 is in and get the full post list? Also if you drill down into that category by checking the box for it?
Another thing that pops in my head right now is: are you having problems with ALL new posts, or only posts into category 15?
Trying to nail down exactly what circumstances make a post vanish is the thing. Is it "all posts always and forever", or "posts in any category in a specific blog", or "posts in this exact category in a specific blog", or something more complex. Knowing the circumstances that lead to a post hiding will help unravel it is the thing.
@Topanga: I seem to recall a vanishing post incident a long time ago. Twas caused by ... hmmm ... some sort of something the blog owner did manually to the database that jacked something else up. I forget exactly but a few questions later I had my aha moment and fixed the problem I caused for myself ;)

Blog 1, the one I can't post into. I created a new cat (59) in the same blog, and wrote a post which also vanished.
What happens if instead of searching via the search box you instead pick the blog that cat 15 is in and get the full post list?
Unfortunately it is aggregating all blogs, so it shows a list of all posts. However, my latest test should be at the top and isn't.
Also if you drill down into that category by checking the box for it?
Aha, there is no Latest showing there, so no cat box to check, neither 15 nor 59. Finally something wrong! Can you fix it?
To answer your other questions - no-one has told me they can't post, and I can see new posts from today. I would say it is just blog 1.
thanks!

Probably. Dunno. Maybe you can?
So let's follow this problem and find a source if we can. When you go to write in blog #1 (which is aggregating content from other blogs), you apparently get to pick these categories - 15 and 59. Yet they don't show up in the category list in the sidebar when on the Posts / Comments tab. That is odd yah?
What about Blog settings -> blog 1 -> Categories. Do 15 and 59 show up there? What do you have for cat URLs for those two categories? Comparing those two cats with any cat you can actually post into, do you see anything that makes you go 'hmmm...'?
Also do you have any categories in blog 1 that you can post into? What I'd be looking for is to really nail the problem first. Like, we know of 2 cats that eat posts. Is it all cats in blog 1, or only those two? If it is all then this is truly odd.
Hey wait a minute. We're trying to kill a tiny rare bug with precision. Let's do something really simple if you haven't already. Let's shotgun the little bastard :> Get a brand new copy of your version from the downloads section and unzip it on your computer. Now on your server delete the entire /inc/ folder, then use your favorite FTP program to upload the new copy of /inc/ you just unzipped. Just in case you have a buggered up file somewhere yah?
14 b4k4 Oct 16, 2009 11:53
new copy of /inc/
didn't work. bummer!
What about Blog settings -> blog 1 -> Categories. Do 15 and 59 show up there? What do you have for cat URLs for those two categories?
Yes, 59 is announcement and 15 is cat15
They are the only categories of blog 1, so truly odd then!
All other blogs have URLs of catn, where n is the cat no.
My blogs have been through several upgrades, from v0.8 I think. Then this blog 1 must have been blog all, right? Does that seem like a reason I can't post in it?
Suppose I blitz blog 1 and just make another aggregator. Then how would I get it to appear first in the menu? Wait a minute, suppose I don't put it in the menu. Anyway, don't sweat over this, I'm going to do something else. So far there are no posts in blog 1, so nothing to lose but first place in the menu.
thanks for helping

I can go look in it an nail it down pretty quicky I guess.
If you mail me password and user for 'an' admin user within 90 minutes, I'll sove the mstery for you.
16 b4k4 Oct 17, 2009 03:02
Thanks Topanga, I pm'ed you. But seriously, I don't want you spending 90 minutes on this. If you can't find anything after a quick look around, just forget it. I don't need to post in blog 1, I can find other ways to get around what I want to do.
thanks

blog 1 was not aggregating itself.
When you actually post in blog 1, you need to add blog one in the list of aggregating blogs
18 tblue Oct 17, 2009 12:28
We should add a note to the UI telling users this.

Thanks a lot.

Has there been any luck on this? I'm having text formatting problems and I'm really annoyed that it's not fixed at this point.
Can somebody help??!
First things first, because I can think of a few possibilities.
Is the post in your database ?
Can you look it up trough phpmyadmin in the table evo_items/evo_items__item
