How do I modify the core mail sending function to use the mailsender plugin for sending out emails?

I know this sounds like a weird request but my mailsender plugin uses smtp authentication and I wanted to extend that really nice feature to the core. Again, this is in pursuit of a mailing system that yahoo, google and hotmail don't reject because of "MTA trustworthiness" as some server bounce messages say. Any ideas? Anyone? Once again, your input is always greatly appreciated.
