My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

Hello. New to b2Ev. We have a client with an established conventional website who wants to add a blog to his site. Because of the site layout, he wants to add the blog to a new page and have his latest post (or a snippet of it) appear on the websites current (non B2Ev) home page.

Can this be done and if so how?

The site is hosted on a windows server running PHP 4.4.7 or 5.2.6 and has the option of WP or B2Ev 3.3.1 currently available on the server.
