Is your site really popular, or are you getting a lot of spam? There are several threads on the forum about reducing the bandwidth and CPU that spammers steal.

Thanks Personman very much for the link... the problem arises of a combination of both: it is very popular, and it is getting an AMAZING amount of trackbacks, we are talking hundreds and hundreds per day, even though I do update the blacklist and have changed the hdrsv (whatever the name is) folder as per Whoo's suggestion. That's why I want to get rid of tracbacks completely
