I have installed a new version of the latest version of b2e twice now and I keep getting this message...

...

MySQL error!

Error establishing a database connection!

1. Are you sure you have typed the correct user/password?
2. Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
3. Are you sure that the database server is running?

It seems that the database config settings you entered don't work. Please check them carefully and try again...

... I have made doubly sure that the user and password are correct, that the hostname is corrent and I know the database server is running.

Anyone have ANY idea as to why I would get this?

Thanks for the help!

I'm having the same problem connecting my database. Does anyone have a solution?

I've been there before ... (just a moment ago, as a matter of fact).

Here are some things to try.

1) I'm assuming that you're running the install script.
2) I'm assuming that you have access to cPanel and have created a DB and a user.

It takes MORE than creating a DB and a USER. You must make certain that the USER has ALL privileges on that DB.

If you go to cPanel and look at the b2evolution DB you created ... make certain that there are users IN THAT DB and they have "ALL Privileges". (Usually, its a 3-step process ... a) create DB, b) create USER/PW c) Assign permissions for WHAT user in WHAT DB.

Hope this helps.
