I don't know if this is the answer or not, but IF you have your "login" publicly displayed, anyone can try to log in.

They probably won't be able to (because they don't know the password), but anyone can go to "Lost your password?" and type in "admin" (a common username).

When I do that for my blog (we don't use "admin"), I got a message saying

An email with the new password was sent successfully to your email address.

Maybe?
