Like others who have posted, I am having a FIT with evo_hitlog getting out of control in size. I muttered lots of epithets and even submitted a trouble ticket to my host before stumbling on the source of my exploding storage. Unfortunately, I don't understand the various solutions that have been offered (scripts, etc.)... my web host offers B2E thru fantastico, which does the installation for dummies like me .

My main question is... my web host offers Webalyzer, so why do I need evo_hitlog? Can I make it go away?

A secondary related question is... are the following error messages related in any way to evo_hitlog?

(I don't much give a rip about listing referrers anyway... but that's one of the many things I'm still trying to figure out how to edit in that skin! I'll be heading over to the skins forum at some point to ask about that...)

Last but not least, I notice that these "referrers" are mostly porn sites. I seriously doubt that my startup website about health and politics is getting real links from porn sites  ... is that why I've seen the word "spam" used in reference to the hitlog? I'd never heard of "hit spam" before! Do they do it to get listed as a referrer, or just to get into hitlogs so bots will follow the links, or...:?:

Based on the info in the hitlog, I'm getting a CRAZY number of hits to a site with one test post on it 8|... not sure what that does, good or bad, as far as search rankings go (since I don't have much content up at the moment, I guess I'm concerned about being blackholed due to the poor quality hits), but it's wearing out my bandwidth allotment! Is there any way to refuse these hits? I saw something about downloading an updated keyword file or something, but I thought that was for comment spam...?

I also saw something about "reporting" this spam... how do I go about doing that?

I have an additional web site that I want to set up on B2E, but I want to get these kinks (pun intended?) worked out on this site before doing another install. Advice for this blog newbie is appreciated! :D

In regards to your spam problem, there is a Tab located in your Backoffice titled ANTISPAM , normally you would click on it and then click the link that says "Request Abuse Update from Centralized Blacklist" , but there is a problem with the Blacklist server and its down right now. Make sure you use that button at least once a day.
