Don't feel like the lone stranger. I couldn't get the upload thing to work when I first started and you know what, it probably STILL doesn't work!
No worries, as we use our FTP client (FileZilla - freeware) to upload our images to a folder and then simply call them up from our blog entry.
http://mysite.com/image_folder/image.jpg
called up with <img src="http://mysite.com/image_folder/image.jpg alt="mypic" />
There is more than one way to skin a cat! ;)

i found out what it was, in the "tricky stuff" there is a link to making sure all your stuff is chmodded right, i clicked on that and found the media folder should be chmodded 777
so the info was buried 1link down, im still going through the docs to learn even more, so much you can do with this prog B)

(I don't think it was a permissions problem for us, if I remember correctly.)
Glad you got it sorted!
Yeah ... there's a LOT you can do with b2evolution. Have fun!

doesn't it get uploaded? or can't it be viewed? (look at the server's directory) what b2evo version are you using? Are there error messages?
If the user of the webserver/php is not the one owning the folder, that it's not writable for him. Try chowning the media folder to the user that actually uploads (apache/php/www-data/wwwX/..).
