Can you roll back safely? 1.6 -> 0.9.1

Ok, so I'm having some issues with 1.6 - so I want to try go back to 0.9.1. However, I did a FRESH install of 1.6, so it's not really a 'rollback'. Can anyone tell me if this can be done WITHOUT losing any of my posts/categories etc?

And if so, how?

No, it's nearly not possible.

I'd wait for the beta which should fix your issues.

Do you have other issues besides the invalid url problem with mailto links?

If so, please report them to the "1.x bugs forum".
