Hello all,
I just installed b2e using fantastico as EdB stated with no problems...well no technical issues anyway.
My problem is, because I used the auto install and auto configure it replaced my existing html page on my website. (not a biggie cause is was only one logo splash page)
So now when you go to http://www.zibhdi.com it goes straight to the blog and you don't even see my splash page.
I'm assuming my options are to 1. remove b2e from the server and start over. (but I wouldn't know exactly what to do differently to avoid this if I did)
2. Go in and rename the appropriate files. (but which files and what would I rename them?)
3. Build the whole site from b2e. (really not feeling this option)
Keep in mind I'm trying to create a site with static html pages that link to the blog, forums, etc.
Oh and I'm as green as new money. ;)
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Or you could make sure your static page is called index.php and rename sample.htaccess to plain old .htaccess
There's a line in there which sets the priority of pages to load. You'll see something like index.php index.html and a bunch of others. Just put them in the order you want them to be prioritised.

Thanks for your 4th option but I went with option #1. In the field where it asked for a subdomain name I left it blank the first time so it put everything in at the root level. I typed in "blog" for the subdomain and the problem was fixed.
I will, however study your suggested method because I think it would be a good learning exercise.
Thanks again.
What auto-installer did you use? I always install using fantastico and it has me fill in a couple of fields before it does it's thing. Admin's name and password, and my email address.
After that I log in and change the password to what I like, download the conf/_config.php file, delete everything cuz it's always an older version, install whatever version I feel like playing with (complete with appropriate info from conf/_config.php of course), then tell mypath/install/ to do an upgrade.
Who cares right? I'm curious what auto-installer isn't giving you an opportunity to set or see the password that will let you log in to your back office.
