I've tried everything from shrinking my images to putting them in different folders on my website links.
NOTHING works!

There is nothing wrong with the images themselves because I can view them as a straight URL link, so ....

Why can't I insert images in my blog posts?

PLEASE help!
and thank you so much!

... and for more Information:
- which php version your server is running?
- what kind of things you have tried? There are more than one possibilities to insert images (hardlink, image code).
- which browser you are using, which plug ins are installed (noScript, ..)
- which OS you are using - or did you try it from more than one pc?

Hi zebulon: I'm sorry but I've seen that page many times. I am not interested in uploading with that long process.

I just want to upload FROM A URL...
I used to be able to do it but since the upgrade, poof! it's gone.

Hi ednong:
Since I am using the exact same browser/OS/computer that I've always used and I've been blogging via B2 Ev for over 7 years, I don't think it's any of those things. I have Windows Vista, am running the 5.1.2 version on my server, using Firefox exclusively, and I have no plugins (unless they come with the automatic install because I have not done it myself). As mentioned before, it's the same computer and website that I've had for 3 years - and the blog about 7 years, previously on another website.

The question remains: since the new version upgrade, has there been a change that blocks any URL image insertion in the text box?

Thanks for any help.

Hi @raymondesavoie,

@ednong said this before:

How are you inserting the images in the post? Can you describe each step? Only knowing it we will be able to help you.

Did you check this other page: http://b2evolution.net/man/how-to-include-external-photos? How far did you go following those instructions?

Thanks.

Ok, I do have, under plugins, the Installatron which manages both my B2Ev blog and a forum that is not in use right now.
That's all.

Hi mqsolipa,
That procedure is exactly what I've tried to use countless times.
First I upload the image on my server/website, copying its URL.
I go to my text box and place the cursor where I want the image to appear.
Second, from the text box, I choose the image icon and click that. Up pops the Insert/Image Edit Box.
I paste the URL in the Image URL line and click on Insert.

A tiny, barely recognisable square with an x across it appears in the spot where I had my cursor.
That's it. No image. Only that tiny box.

As I said, if it were my image, I would not be able to use the exact same URL to make it appear in a new browser window on its own, but I can and it does. Any ideas?

All right, thanks for the description, now I understand.

It is not supposed to be a real solution, but it might work. Make a right-click over that tiny square, select the option "Insert/Edit Image", and then click on "Update" ( you don't have to change anything else ). The image should appear as supposed, I tested a minute ago in the Installatron's demo site and it worked.

Regards!

Hi Raymonde

Important is that you put the http:// in front of the link!
If you are not doing this the editor asumes that you are linking to the blogs folder in the media directory!

You can check what the link is when you switch the editor to HTML instead of WYSIWYG

So if you Insert a image with the editor and you paste www.example.com/myimage.png the actual link would be /blog1/www.example.com/myimage.png which of course is a invalid link.

But if you link to http://www.example.com/myimage.png the image link is correct and your image will display.

Hi zebulon: Yes, I do place the http:// in front ... but still that didn't seem to work.

And, I'm afraid, mqsopila, that your little trick, though clever, did not work either. :) But thanks for the suggestion. When I clicked on the "update" in the Insert/Image box, nothing happened at all.

What did work (finally!!) was retyping all the links from scratch and using the actual pic "name" as it was in my FTP file. I don't know why that didn't work before but today it did. And I am glad because this was my last day of trying to salvage a blog post that I created in September and had not been able to upload ... until now.

So thanks for listening, guys, Thanks for your suggestions and Thanks for being here!
SOLVED!!!
woohoo!!!

:)
