Multiple insertion of <p><br></p>

Hi. Only just noticed since upgrade to 6.11.2 and not 100% sure that is what instigated this anomaly but I have a couple of dozen of the <p><br></p> after a </div> and before a <table> which means considerable scrolling has to doen to see the table.

First I thought it was a css error and removed classes and ids, to no avail. Looking via document inspector I found the insertions.

By the way opeing up the <p> ~ </p> show another inner <br> And what's with this old HTML 3 <br>?

I deleted any space between the </div> and <table> ~ </div><table> but no change
I checked the post via phpMyAdmin and there is no insertion.

So I added an inline css to the table tag <table style="margin-top:-56em"> which moves the table up to it's proper place.

I do have autoP on and if I switch if off I get a huge gap again.

Will try and disable, reset, remove and reinstall the plug-in to see if that is causing a problem.

I understand that turning auto-P off and then on again seems to fix this.

I would still very much know how to reproduce this.

Do it happen when editing older posts?

No it's static page with local train times which I updated on May 19 last. The only changes have been the upgrade to 6.11.2 and my php to 7.3.6. I only became aware of ti as someone said the timetable was missing, when in fact is was dozens of lines down the page.

So it's only happened the once and not when editing??

Ah you're pasting heavily loaded HTML.
Please consider that Auto-P is only designed to work with text-only or simple HTML posts.

Another thing to check would be: do you have the markdown plugin enabled?
This one changed significantly in v6.11.

Nope. Markdown plugin is not installed.

I do have some ancient, modified stuff
MoreTags > from the ¥åßßå, Topanga, EdB era :) which is now > mySpansnDivs
and
the old QuickTags which is now > myhtmltags
and another moded version as in the image

Thought I'd show off my childish skills :)

Just to note again that the insert was <p><br></p>

I'm wondering how an old html <br> was added without the closing slash. It doesn'r appear in the Auto P plugin in any obvious sense ??
